Courtesy Pay is a service that allows ASFCU to pay on a check presented against your checking account even if it causes the account to become overdrawn. Courtesy Pay may allow account holders in good standing to overdraw their checking account up to $500. The Courtesy Pay limit includes any overdraft fees assessed.
If the account has been opened at least 90 days and maintained in good standing, we may, at our discretion, pay overdrafts created by checks or ACH transactions up to the limits mentioned above, including Courtesy Pay charge(s). Whether we pay or return an item, your account will be assessed a fee, either as a Courtesy Pay charge or a Non-Sufficient Funds charge. You will not be charged both fees. With the Courtesy Pay option, you avoid both the embarrassment of a returned item and any fees assessed by the merchant. Our current Courtesy Pay charge per item is $30, which may be changed with prior notice to you.
The following transactions are NOT covered - Teller transactions (including Service Centers), Home Banking, Internal wires, ATM withdrawals, POS transactions, and Debit card transactions.
This non-contractual courtesy of paying overdrafts requires no account holder action. If your account is set up to overdraft from savings, money market, or from an overdraft loan, the Courtesy Pay will not activate unless these accounts are either exhausted or the number of transactions has exceeded the regulation limits. No additional agreements need to be signed, and it costs nothing unless the privilege is used - by your writing checks for more than is on deposit in the account.
Courtesy Pay allows Aurora Schools Federal Credit Union to provide a higher level of service to our members by helping you to protect your account and reputation when an inadvertent overdraft occurs.
To take advantage of Courtesy Pay, you will be required to Opt-in for Courtesy Pay protection on your account. Please read our Courtesy Pay Policy (effective July 1, 2010).
